Corporate Responsibility

Mining That Gives Back

Creating lasting value for the people around us

At How Mine, responsible gold mining means more than meeting standards — it means creating lasting value for the people and communities around us. For over eight decades our operation has been woven into the social and economic fabric of the Umzingwane District and the wider Bulawayo region.

Under Namib Minerals, we continue that tradition by embedding modern ESG practices and genuine community partnerships into everything we do, from sport and community development to safety and skills training.

Chikurupati — pride of the community

Sport has long been at the heart of How Mine's community identity. How Mine Football Club, affectionately known by its nickname Chikurupati, carried the mine's name into Zimbabwean football and became a source of pride for workers and the surrounding community.

Established within the How Mine community, the club rose through the ranks to compete in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, playing its home matches at a 20,000-capacity stadium in Bulawayo.
